It's 2010 and mutants exist, their abilities kept from the world, seen as nothing more than myths. Most sides are fearful of pushing humanity into an all out war, or revisiting the witch hunts of past ages, but some see conflict as unavoidable. Many mutants don't even know what they are; cut off, alone, freaks.
The government has made use of mutant soldiers for decades, training them to kill or capture possible threats. They know mutants are a danger, and seek to control or remove any such problems.
The Brotherhood is a largely unknown terrorist organization targeting government installations, quietly waging a war, even their name unknown to all but a rare few.
Charles Xavier has only recently opened the doors of his family estate, establishing a private school, in truth a place to protect and train young mutants. His few senior protégés have taken on teaching roles, additionally serving on a team of X-men.
This is the world X-genesis in based in, an AU, canon only, rpg.
